Get recommended in ChatGPT and AI search

Get found when your customers ask AI which business to recommend

Your customers are asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews what to buy and who to go with. Those tools are answering right now, with 3 or 4 names and a sentence about each. Most owners have never checked whether they're on that list. I check, then I do the work to get your business on the AI's radar, in English and Spanish.

> "Best boat tour in Uvita, Costa Rica?"

  1. Competitor A
  2. Competitor B
  3. Your business isn't here

That list is the new front door. There's no page 2.

What is AI visibility?

AI visibility is whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google's AI Overviews name your business when someone asks them for a recommendation in your category.

These are the kinds of questions your customers are already typing.

Every one of them comes back with a few names, a sentence about each, and nothing else. The person reading it picks from that short list. That list is the new front door. You're on it or you aren't. There's no page 2.

Is AI actually sending customers to small businesses right now?

Yes, and I can show you the money attached to it.

  • Usermaven · attributed bookings

Bahia Aventuras runs boat tours out of Uvita, Costa Rica. In the 30 days from June 11 to July 11, 2026, ChatGPT sent Bahia Aventuras 13 tour bookings worth $2,100 USD, at a 6.38% conversion rate. That's attribution tied to actual bookings, not an estimate. Their ChatGPT visitors reached the cart 23 times and the checkout 15 times, which is not browsing behavior. The owner had no idea until we looked.

  • GA4 · traffic sources

Separately, in GA4 for roughly that same window, chatgpt.com was their #3 traffic source: 242 sessions, 10.13% of the total, behind only Google Organic at 1,311 and Direct at 676. It beat Bing, which sent 52. It also beat every social network and every referral source they have. Those ChatGPT visitors engaged at 93.8%, slightly better than the ones Google sent.

  • GA4 · second business

Smaller example, same direction. A youth sports academy I worked with logged 5 ChatGPT sessions against 4 from Bing. Tiny numbers, but AI has already passed a traditional search engine there, and that's a service business rather than a tour operator.

Not produced yet. This slot carries the section's proof burden: one real screenshot does more than the paragraphs beside it.

I'm not claiming I caused that. Nobody ran a before and after, so it's a demand signal rather than a result I get to take credit for. What it proves is narrower and still worth your attention: AI is already sending paying customers to small businesses today, and most owners can't see it happening.

It's undercounted, too. Plenty of AI-referred visits arrive with no source attached and get logged as direct traffic. Bahia's Direct was 676 sessions, and some real portion of that is AI that nothing I have can see. So 10.13% is the floor rather than the ceiling, and $2,100 is the number I can stand behind rather than the number that's true.

How is this different from SEO?

It's the same discipline aimed at a new surface.

AI visibility work and SEO overlap heavily. Most of what makes a business legible to a search engine is what makes it legible to a language model:

  • Entity consistency across directories
  • Citations on sources the models trust
  • Structured data and schema
  • Semantic HTML and heading structure
  • Crawlability and rendering
  • Page speed and load times
  • Reviews and reputation signals
  • Content shaped like an answer to a question somebody actually asks

That's the same list I've been working since 2011. What changed is the reader.

A large share of the lever is off your site, which is the part most people miss. Reviews. Directories. Whether your Google Business Profile, your TripAdvisor listing, and your own footer agree on your hours and your address. Whether the internet describes your business the same way twice. That work moves the needle even when your website is weak, which is why I don't need to sell you a rebuild before I can do anything useful.

Where do I start?

With the AI Visibility Audit. It's $399 USD, one time, and it takes 5 to 7 business days.

It's the only thing I'll sell you first, because right now neither of us knows whether a monthly retainer would do anything for you. Here's what I run:

  • 15 to 25 real buyer prompts through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews, using the questions your customers actually type
  • Screenshots of where you show up, where a competitor shows up instead of you, and how the AI describes you when it does
  • An entity consensus check across your Google Business Profile, directories, reviews, and Wikidata, looking for every place the internet contradicts itself about your business
  • Crawlability and rendering, which is the make-or-break one: can the bots read your content at all, or is it trapped in client-side JavaScript
  • Semantic HTML, heading structure, schema
  • Content depth, meaning whether there is anything on your site worth quoting
  • Page speed, robots rules, llms.txt

Step 1 The AI Visibility Audit

What do I get for the $399?

A scorecard, the evidence behind it, a prioritized fix list, and a verdict.

  • AI Visibility Scorecard, off-site and on-site, graded in plain language
  • The prompt-test screenshots, you sitting next to your competitors inside the AI answers
  • A prioritized fix list, split into quick wins and foundation work
  • A short Loom walkthrough, my voice and my face, so you can ask me about it
  • The verdict

The verdict is one of 3, and you get whichever one is true

  1. Retainer-ready

Your site can carry on-site work and the Plan makes sense.

  2. Off-site-first

Your site is weak but functional, so we start with the off-site work and I tell you where the ceiling is before we hit it.

  3. Foundation-first

Your site is genuinely uncrawlable or has nothing on it worth reading, and fixing that comes before anything monthly.

Verdict 3 means I turn down the retainer. That's the reason the audit costs money and comes first, instead of you finding out 4 months into a plan that was never going to work on your foundation.

The $399 doesn't credit toward the AI Visibility Plan. I priced it low enough that it doesn't need to.

Step 2 The AI Visibility Plan

What does the ongoing work cost?

$599 USD a month for Core, $1,099 USD a month for Growth. The retainer is called the AI Visibility Plan.

Scroll the table sideways on a narrow screen.

Month to month, per brand, and you can stop whenever you want.

I recommend giving it 90 days before you judge it, and I'd rather say that now than after you've paid. AI visibility compounds. One month proves nothing.

This is maintenance work, closer to keeping a truck on the road than to buying one. Citations go stale. Competitors publish. The models re-crawl and change their minds. Your hours change and 4 directories still have the old ones. The businesses that establish consensus and citation authority now are the ones that get named by default later, which is the honest argument against waiting for this to settle.

Can you promise I'll show up in ChatGPT?

No. Anyone who promises that is selling you something.

I don't control the models, and neither does anybody else with a pricing page. What I guarantee is the work, done every month and reported transparently, plus a straight answer at 90 days. If the needle isn't moving and the reason is your foundation, I'll tell you that plainly and we'll talk about the foundation. I'm not going to keep billing a retainer that has hit its ceiling and say nothing.

Do I need a new website first?

Usually not, which is the whole reason the audit comes before anything else.

Most of the early lever is off-site, so I can move things for you on a site I didn't build and wouldn't have built that way. Sometimes your site really is the ceiling, though. Then the audit says foundation-first, and a build starts at $3,500 USD and goes up depending on what your business needs it to do, with a monthly Maintenance Fee of $160 to $500 USD once it's live. It doesn't need to be an art masterpiece, it just needs to work.

There's a point where getting found on other people's surfaces tops out. Social you don't control. Reviews that count for a lot and that you rent rather than own. When you hit that, you need your own real estate on the internet, a place that holds your content and puts people into your funnel. That's the job the website does, and it's a later rung, not the first one.

Do you work in Spanish?

Yes, both languages, and it's included on the Growth tier at $1,099 USD a month.

I'm bilingual and I write both, so a Spanish prompt panel gets run properly instead of translated after the fact. When I went looking at the agencies and freelancers selling AI visibility into this market, I couldn't find one doing it in Spanish. If a good share of your customers ask in Spanish, an English-only agency is auditing half your problem.

Am I locked in?

No. You own your website, your content, and your accounts, and you always did.

Nothing I set up is locked down. If you want to leave, you take your content and go, and I'll help you move it out. What keeps you here is supposed to be the work being worth what you pay for it. That's the whole arrangement, and it's why I publish the prices instead of making you book a call to hear them.
